If you’re specifically searching for a villa in Seminyak with a private pool, the important word is private. You want a pool that’s part of your own villa—not a shared hotel pool or a small plunge pool attached to a room overlooking communal areas.
At My Villas in Bali, each of our one- and two-bedroom villas has its own 3m × 5m private pool, surrounded by your own living space and tropical garden. You can swim before breakfast, spend the afternoon beside the pool or come back after a day exploring Bali and jump straight in. There are no other guests using it.
Our villas are on Jalan Camplung Tanduk in central Seminyak, so choosing privacy doesn’t mean staying somewhere isolated. The beach is around 800 metres away, with restaurants, cafés, shops and spas nearby.
The main decision is therefore fairly simple: do you need one bedroom or two?
Both villa types give you the same basic idea—a private villa in central Seminyak with your own swimming pool—but they’re designed for different types of stay.
| 1 Bedroom Private Pool Villa | 2 Bedroom Private Pool Villa | |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Couples, honeymooners and solo travellers | Families, friends or two couples |
| Bedrooms | 1 | 2 |
| Private pool | 3m × 5m | 3m × 5m |
| Bed | 2m × 2m king latex bed | Private bedroom accommodation on either side of the shared villa space |
| Living space | Private living room and kitchen | Shared living space for the group |
| Outdoor space | Private pool, sun lounges and garden | Private pool and outdoor space |
| Location | Camplung Tanduk, Seminyak | Camplung Tanduk, Seminyak |
If you’re travelling as a couple, I wouldn’t automatically pay for a larger villa simply because it appears to offer more value on paper. An unused second bedroom doesn’t improve the holiday.
Our 1 Bedroom Villa in Seminyak gives two people the things that actually matter: your own pool, garden, living room, kitchen, large king bed and private bathroom, all without sharing the property with other guests.
It’s the option I’d choose for a honeymoon, anniversary or simply a Bali holiday where privacy is one of the reasons you’re booking a villa in the first place.

For a family, friends or two couples travelling together, the 2 Bedroom Villa in Seminyak makes more sense.
The advantage isn’t merely having another bed. The layout gives you shared space around the pool while still allowing the bedrooms to provide some separation and privacy. That matters particularly when two couples are travelling together—you can share the holiday without feeling as though everybody is living in the same room.

Bedroom count is the obvious difference, but I think the better question is how you expect to use the villa.
If you’re a couple and expect to spend mornings by the pool, go out for lunch and sunset, then come back to your own space in the evening, the one-bedroom villa gives you everything you need without paying for rooms you won’t use.
For two couples, I’d choose the two-bedroom villa. You still get the social side of sharing a private pool and living area, but everyone has their own bedroom space when they want it.
For a family, think about how much time you’ll actually spend at the villa. A private pool can become a much bigger part of the holiday when you’re travelling with children because you don’t need to organise another outing every time they want to swim.
| You’re Travelling As… | I’d Choose… |
|---|---|
| Couple | 1 Bedroom Villa |
| Honeymooners | 1 Bedroom Villa |
| Solo traveller wanting private space | 1 Bedroom Villa |
| Two couples | 2 Bedroom Villa |
| Family needing two bedrooms | 2 Bedroom Villa |
| Couple considering two bedrooms “just in case” | Usually the 1 Bedroom Villa |
The villa with the most bedrooms isn’t automatically the better villa. I’d choose the smallest layout that comfortably fits your group, then put more weight on privacy, location and the facilities you’ll actually use every day.
A private pool changes how you use the villa. It isn’t simply another amenity to photograph when you arrive.
Each of our villas has its own 3m × 5m swimming pool, used only by the guests staying in that villa. There isn’t a communal pool elsewhere on the property and you don’t share yours with neighbouring guests.
That means you can swim when you wake up, have breakfast beside the pool, come back during the hottest part of the afternoon or cool off after a day exploring Bali without planning around anyone else.
There are sun lounges beside the pool and a private garden with Balinese carvings, so the outdoor area becomes part of your living space rather than somewhere you visit for an hour.
This is also why I’d think about how much time you’ll actually spend at your accommodation before deciding between a villa and a hotel. If you expect to be out from breakfast until bedtime every day, you may not get much value from having your own pool. If you deliberately want some slower days, it can become one of the most-used parts of the villa.
Rather than describing the villas simply as “luxury,” I’d look at the facilities you’re actually getting.
Inside the 1 Bedroom Villa, you’ll find a separate living area with an HD television, DVD player and kitchen. The bedroom has air conditioning, a 2m × 2m king latex bed, desk, television and power adapters.
The bathroom is finished in marble and includes a double bath and shower, while an outdoor shower gives you another option after using the pool.
Outside, you have:
Having a kitchen and proper living space is another important difference between a private villa and simply booking a hotel room with a plunge pool. You have somewhere to spend time when you aren’t sleeping or swimming.
For the two-bedroom option, the shared spaces let everyone spend time together while retaining separate bedroom accommodation. That’s particularly useful for families and two couples travelling together.

A private pool is much less useful if getting anywhere from the villa becomes a daily inconvenience.
Our villas are on Jalan Camplung Tanduk in central Seminyak, with the beach around 800 metres away and restaurants, cafés, shops and spas throughout the surrounding area.
That means you can have privacy once you’re inside the villa without needing to stay somewhere isolated to get it.
I think this matters more than many people realise when they’re comparing properties online. Two villas can both advertise themselves as being “in Seminyak,” but the day-to-day experience can be very different if one requires transport every time you want breakfast, dinner or the beach.
Before booking any Seminyak villa, I’d check the actual location rather than relying on phrases such as “close to everything.” Put it into Maps, look at the route to the places you’ll use regularly and think about how often you’ll realistically need transport.
We’ve covered that decision in more detail in our guide to choosing the right Bali villa location, but the principle is simple: privacy inside the villa and convenience outside it don’t have to be mutually exclusive.
Not every search result for a “private pool villa” is offering the same type of stay.
Some are independent villas where the pool, garden and living areas belong entirely to you. Others are part of larger resorts, where your room or villa may have a private pool but you also share restaurants, reception areas, gyms and other resort facilities.
Neither is automatically better.
| If You Want… | I’d Consider… |
|---|---|
| Your own pool and living space | Private villa |
| Maximum privacy | Private villa |
| Large shared facilities such as gyms or multiple restaurants | Villa resort |
| A traditional resort atmosphere | Villa resort |
| A private space for a couple or family | Private villa |
| Kids’ clubs and extensive resort facilities | Larger resort |
Our villas sit firmly in the first category. You’re booking your own villa, private pool and living space rather than a room within a larger resort complex.
If having extensive shared facilities is important to you, a resort may genuinely be the better choice. If you’re searching specifically because you want privacy and your own space in Seminyak, that’s where a private villa makes more sense.
The photographs are important, but I’d check five practical things before booking any villa you find online.
Make sure the pool belongs exclusively to your villa rather than being shared with other guests.
“Seminyak area” can cover properties with very different levels of convenience. Check the actual location and the routes to the beach, restaurants and places you’ll use regularly.
Look beyond the headline nightly price. Check what’s included and whether taxes, breakfast, transfers or other services are charged separately.
This matters particularly with two-bedroom villas. Two bedrooms beside each other in one building provide a different experience from bedrooms positioned with more separation around shared living areas.
Find out who you contact if you need help, want something arranged or have a problem at the villa. There’s a meaningful difference between a staffed villa and a property where the owner or manager is only available remotely.
Those five questions will usually tell you more about what the stay will actually be like than another page of carefully staged photographs.
One thing I’ve noticed over the years is that guests often use the villa more than they expected when they booked it.
They may arrive with plans to spend every day sightseeing, then realise that having breakfast beside their own pool and staying there for another hour is quite enjoyable.

A typical day doesn’t need to be complicated. Have breakfast at the villa, go out for a few hours, come back during the hottest part of the afternoon and use the pool, then head towards the beach for sunset and dinner.
That ability to move between your own private space and everything around Seminyak is one of the main reasons I’d choose a well-located villa rather than treating accommodation simply as somewhere to sleep.
If you’re planning a couple’s trip, our guide to planning a Seminyak honeymoon has more ideas for balancing time at the villa with days out.
If you’ve decided one of our villas suits your trip, check the current rate and availability for your dates rather than relying on prices quoted in an older article or search result.
Booking directly also means you’re dealing with the team responsible for your stay. If you have questions about the villa layout, arrival, airport transfer, dietary requirements or something you’d like arranged beforehand, you can ask before confirming.
I wouldn’t make this decision purely on price. Compare what’s included, the exact location and the villa itself so you’re comparing like with like.

Yes. I’d normally recommend the one-bedroom villa for a honeymoon because a couple gets the entire villa and pool to themselves without paying for unnecessary additional bedrooms.
They can be a good option for families who want two separate bedrooms and their own pool rather than multiple hotel rooms. If you’re travelling with young children, contact us before booking so you can check that the villa layout and pool setup are appropriate for your family’s needs.
With our villas, the pool belongs exclusively to your villa. You’re also getting private living space, a garden and kitchen rather than simply having access to a shared hotel pool or communal resort facilities.
The main reason to choose a private pool villa in Seminyak isn’t simply to have a pool outside your bedroom. It’s to have your own space while still being close to the part of Bali you’ve chosen to stay in.
Get those two things right—privacy inside and a practical location outside—and the villa becomes part of the holiday rather than somewhere you only return to at night.
